Alight Analytics Lands Spot on Inc.’s Best Workplaces List

Alight Analytics, a Kansas City-based provider of marketing analytics to advertising agencies and global brands, has been named one of Inc. magazine’s Best Workplaces for 2017.

Alight was one of 233 companies selected from a pool of several thousand. The recognized companies were considered based on their company culture, employee engagement and benefits.

Matt Hertig and Michelle Jacobs founded the company 10 years ago. “We couldn’t accomplish everything we have without an amazing team,” said Hertig, Alight Analytics’ CEO. “Technology only takes you so far. Ultimately, you need exceptional people who are committed to serving clients.”

Inc. magazine notes that a company must provide more than good compensation and benefits if it wants to be a company enjoy being part of. Things like having a clear purpose, a sense of humor and leadership are also part of the mix.

Jacobs, Alight’s COO, said, “We deliberately created a workplace culture where everyone is encouraged to speak up, where office politics are replaced with friends, trust and fun. My experience has always been that it doesn’t matter so much what you are doing for a living, but who you are doing it with.”

One part of the selection process scored applicants on their employees’ responses to a 30-question survey, and the research team at Quantum Workplace evaluated them. For its results to qualify, each company had to achieve a statistically significant response rate based on employee count. Survey scores accounted for employer size to level the playing field between small and large businesses. All companies had to have minimum of 10 employees and be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent.

Alight Analytics has racked up numerous awards over the last several years, including Thinking Bigger Business Media’s 2014 25 Under 25® award and local best places to work awards. Matt Hertig and Michelle Jacobs are finalists for the 2017 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year for the Central Midwest region.
