Big Starts: Briefcase Helps College Students Click with Job Openings

Imagine being able to apply for any job—whether it’s a gig as a geologist or a marketing intern—from your phone, simply by hitting “yes” or “no.”

Users of Briefcase don’t have to imagine any longer. The new mobile app lets colleges’ career service departments feed personalized job openings to students in an unprecedented way.

“The coolest thing is the simplification,” said Christian Fisher, Briefcase co-founder and CEO. “It’s never been done before, and we’re really excited to give students that option.”

With first-round seed funding facilitated by SparkLabKC, a local accelerator, Briefcase was rolled out in February at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the College of Business at the University of Missouri-Columbia, the MBA degree program at Rockhurst University, and Park University.

The goal of Briefcase is to help more college students obtain career-level employment upon graduation.

“When they’re freshmen, we make sure that they get into the system and start building their profile,” said Nick Mallare, Briefcase co-founder and CTO. “And when we know that they’re, say, a computer engineering major, we can start sending them appropriate internships or part-time jobs.” // www.briefca.se
