Major Expansion for GreenAcres Markets
GreenAcres Markets is buying five natural food stores in Oklahoma and Wichita, more than doubling its business in the process. GreenAcres previously owned three stores, including one in Kansas City. The company is purchasing three Whole Foods Association stores in Wichita and Health Food Centers in Oklahoma City and Lawton, Okla. The company’s long-term plans also include a second location in Kansas City.

Media Services Moves into Moving
Media Services is introducing its own commercial moving service for local trips. Since the company already has trucks that pick up customers’ documents, it was a natural move to add moving services.

Arsalon Wins State Merit Award
The Kansas Department of Commerce presented a Merit Award of Excellence to Arsalon Technologies this summer. The company was recognized for its strong business growth and for its philanthropic support of the Kansas City Autism Training Center.

McKim Steps Up at Morningstar
Morningstar Communications has promoted Tricia McKim from account director to vice president. While she’ll continue to work on communications programs for clients, she’ll be taking a larger role in business development. She’s been with the firm since 2004.

Greenleaf Praised at Contracting Forum
At the recent Kansas City Government Contracting and Procurement Forum, Greenleaf Construction won an award for being an outstanding MWBE company. Senior vice president Thomas Eatman and safety director Steve Henderson accepted the honor.

Inc. Recognizes A/R Allegiance’s Growth
A/R Allegiance Group LLC has been named to the Inc. 5000 list for 2013, which recognizes the fastest-growing private companies in the United States. The company was ranked No. 3066 overall and 21st in Kansas.

Culinary Center Welcomes Executive Chef
The Culinary Center of Kansas City is welcoming a new executive chef, Gary Hild, who brings more than 30 years of experience to the business. (Hild was named Chef of the Year in 2007 by the Kansas City Chef’s Association.) The center is also offering a new team-building activity: All Hands for Hunger, where a group can make a meal that will then be donated to a local charity.

Alpha Energy & Electric has formalized a new teaming arrangement with Siemens Building Technologies, which will allow them to present a comprehensive electrical services program to clients.

Mary Havel Altman has joined RCA Group as a senior vice president, where she will develop strategies and plans for the company’s clients. She previously was the marketing executive for the World Golf Hall of Fame, its IMAX Theater and the World Golf Village resort.

Rush Wins International Pitch Competition
EyeVerify’s Toby Rush, a 25 Under 25® winner for Rush Tracking Systems, was the ultimate winner of Get In the Ring, an international pitch competition for startups. The finals were held in the Netherlands as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

New Manager for the T-Bones

Oncimmune USA has been sold to Health Diagnostics Laboratory Inc., a Virginia-based company that develops test for biomarkers of risk factors for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and related diseases. Oncimmune’s signature technology—a blood test that helps detect lung cancer early—is a good fit for HDL’s stable of products.
