Fresh2DeskKC: An Apple a Day Keeps the Doughnuts Away

If the only food in your break room happens to be a box of doughnuts, you’re probably going to end up snacking on doughnuts. Frank Tarantino wants to give you another option.

His company, Fresh2DeskKC, brings boxes of fresh produce to homes and businesses. Customers can either place a one-time order
or sign up for weekly or biweekly deliveries. The company will put together boxes of fruits or vegetables, and organic options are available.

“My target is the person who wants to eat healthier, but when they go to work, doughnuts and pizza and bagels and all that kind of stuff is there,” said Tarantino, who used to work as a sales rep for different media companies.

Tarantino obtains his product from a local supplier. In the summer, he’ll add in seasonal choices like plums, peaches and nectarines … within reason. “I try not to fill the whole thing with mangoes,” he said.

Fresh2DeskKC delivers throughout the metro, though most of Tarantino’s customers tend to be downtown and in Johnson County.

Eventually, Tarantino believes, the concept could evolve into an operation encompassing Springfield, Columbia and other cities in the region.

“Right now, my complete focus is growing the business in the Kansas City area.”
