Harrisonville Gets Chemical Facility Startup

A new chemical manufacturing startup in Harrisonville, Mo., will provide at least 14 new jobs as part of business expansions under the Missouri Works program.

ACCI Specialty Materials is a startup that manufactures chemical products for the aerospace, personal care and automotive industries. The company is preparing a new facility to manufacture specialty chemicals for thermoset resins, including epoxy resins, curing agents, imidazoles and dihydrazides. It is the first off-site facility by the parent company, which is based in Linden, N.J.

Dave Goodman, director of operations at the Harrisonville site, said the firm will now be able to manufacture internally with its own technology and procedures. Previously the company procured the materials either through a contract manufacturing situation or as a direct purchase.  The startup already has begun to hire professionals from the area.

The facility was previously the site of a chemical manufacturer, which is one of the reasons the company chose the location.

ACCI is assisted through Missouri Works, which helps businesses obtain capital through withholdings or tax credits to expand facilities and to create jobs. It also helps businesses purchase equipment to maintain their operations in Missouri.
