Train Whistles and the Economy
The train whistle has always had a certain allure, and if the Oracle of Omaha is right, hearing that familiar high-pitched blast could signal the economy is roaring back around the bend.
Can Charity Be a Bad Idea? Featured
Last October I blogged about a new company in Jacksonville, Fla., that added a new twist to the old adage of giving someone the shirt off your back . . . Jason Sadler, the founder of www.IWearYourShirt.com, created a public relations venture by putting shirts bearing an organization’s message or logo on his back and wearing them around town for the day. Now, a year later, it seems he’s in trouble for actually giving the shirt off his back.

Another area business owners are trying to get their arms around is their eligibility for the much-touted tax credit. It’s intended to help small businesses offset the cost of providing health insurance by up to 35 percent. The real devil is in the “up to” details.
