JobShakers Takes the Headache out of Employee Job Referrals

JobShakers has an advantage that a lot of startups would envy: Its target customers absolutely want what it’s selling.

The young company has created a patent-pending mobile app that makes it easy for employees to refer their friends and family for job openings at work.

Ask any HR pro. Employee referrals are one of the best sources of can’t-miss job applicants. In fact, a lot of companies pay a cash bonus for referrals that lead to actual hires.

The problem is those referral programs are a pain to manage. Employees have to schlep down to the HR office and fill out a form, which the HR office then has to tag and track.

Be Kind to Your HR Team

JobShakers simplifies things. Each referral automatically feeds into a neatly organized dashboard that your long-suffering HR folks won’t mind using.

“We wanted the user experience to be very intuitive and very clean,” said Phil Gyori, JobShakers’ chief marketing officer. “We think we’ve accomplished that.”

Nurses and other highly skilled hourly workers are JobShakers’ sweet spot. Saint Luke’s Health System, John Knox Village and Advantage Tech have all signed up as early customers.

The company is pursuing clients in Colorado, Illinois, Wisconsin and Washington state. Good thing it just secured another $265,000 in seed money. JobShakers will use the investment—which it received via the Mid-America Angels—to boost its business development efforts.
