With Local Runway, KC Designers Will Raise Money for Addiction Recovery Program

Some of Kansas City’s brightest fashion designers are coming together to raise money for Healing House, an addiction recovery program.

Several designers will be showcasing their work at Local Runway, a fashion show at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Oliver Building’s Mulberry Room, 1321 W. 13th St., in Kansas City, Missouri. The featured pieces will include men’s and women’s fashion, accessories and lingerie.

The show is being presented by VintageKC Magazine, which will release its 2017 fashion issue during the event. Local Runway is a separate entity from VintageKC, though the magazine’s fashion director, Calli Green, created the show.

“Local Runway is a connection, closing the gap between our local fashion community and Kansas Citians,” Green said. “We are so fortunate to have very creative and talented designers right in our backyard, yet our city hasn’t had a show dedicated exclusively to them. Pouring back into the city is an important aspect of the show, so partnering with The Healing House provides a great way to give back to our community and invite others to do the same.”

You can buy tickets for Local Runway at this website. The show will be followed by a party with drinks, food and music. Attendees can also purchase pieces from the show or place orders from the featured designers. No piece will cost more than $200.

“Our programs and services make a real, lasting difference in the lives of Kansas City residents touched by addiction,” said Bobbi Jo Reed, Healing House’s executive director. “We tailor success plans for each individual and family that come through our doors. We can only offer these services with help from the greater Kansas City community.”

VintageKC Magazine and Local Runway are both affiliated with Affinity Worldwide, a Northland-based company.
