Mid-Continent Public Library and Clay County EDC to Host Small Business Bootcamp

The Clay County Economic Development Council and Mid-Continent Public Library will host a Small Business Bootcamp on March 10 at 8:30 a.m. at the Woodneath Library Center, 8900 Flintlock Road,  in Kansas City.

The bootcamp is designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs start and grow their own business. Experts will lead breakout sessions on social media for sales, the legal aspects of business ownership, doing business in the cloud and insuring a company.

In the social media breakout session, Anne Cull, founder of Think Viral will lead participants through a step-by-step process that teaches social media marketing from the ground up. Participants will learn how much time and money a company should be investing in social media efforts and to define realistic results.

Adrienne Haynes, managing partner of SEED Law, will present Legalese for Small Business Owners and provide an overview on the legal aspects of owning a small business.

Doing Business in the Cloud, led by Jason Crowley, owner of INDIGEX, will cover options for using technology to run your day-to-day, including some free options.

The Insuring Your New Company session will focus on insurance options for new businesses. Dena James Prior, co-founder of Cowell James Forge.

This bootcamp is funded by a grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
