Twentyseven Global, a custom software engineering firm, built and launched an events-based mobile application platform for Kansas City-based startup Ziyak.

Built for Android and iOS platforms and a cloud-based web application, the custom mobile app shows users events that are happening around their city or in cities where they may be traveling.

Randy Grommet, president and co-founder of Ziyak, and Evan Holwick, vice president and co-founder, developed the app to comprehensively capture and display events. The inspiration for the app came when Grommet missed a bacon-fest in Kansas City and started thinking about ways to avoid future bacon-fests.

Ziyak’s sales team will cover 200 cities to ensure the app has sufficient event data. The app highlights concerts, happy hours, wine tastings, restaurant specials, festivals, charity functions and more. Users can specify a location and radius and filter by category.

Sponsors can use the Ziyak online portal to showcase and advertise their events.

Twentyseven Global, a Thinking Bigger 25 Under 25 Awards alumni with offices in Kansas City, Denver and Vietnam, will integrate a ticketing feature into the app. Once the feature is enabled, Ziyak will announce a partnership with a major ticket broker so that users can use the app to buy tickets for concerts, sports contests and other events.
