Small Business Essay Contest to Give Away $600K in Money, Services

More than $600,000 in cash and services are up for grabs in “Innovations 4 Entrepreneurs,” a national essay contest aimed at tech-savvy entrepreneurs and sponsored by Comcast Business, a unit of Comcast Cable, and Inc. magazine.

Two winning essays from each of the 16 Comcast Business Regions, including Kansas City, will be picked—one with the topic of “best use of technology to enhance the customer experience” and one with the topic of “best use of technology to enhance the employee experience.”

From the 32 regional winners, who will each receive $5,000 in cash plus services, there will be six grand prize winners, who will each receive an additional $20,000 in cash plus services.

Grand prize winners will also get an all-expenses-paid trip to New York for two; one-on-one consults with celebrity businessman Marcus Lemonis, celebrity chef and entrepreneur Robert Irvine and Comcast senior executives; a VIP tour of Rockefeller Center; and an awards dinner made by Irvine.

“Technology can transform a small business, and we want to elevate and recognize those entrepreneurs that are using it to make a difference for their customers and employees with the Innovations 4 Entrepreneurs program,” said Terry Connell, senior vice president of Comcast Business.

“Across our growing customer base, Comcast Business sees so many incredible stories about how innovative uses of technology help create exciting, profitable businesses. This program will show what can happen when these promising companies receive the funding and tools they need to take on the challenges of owning and running their own business.”
