1Week KC Kicks Off 5th Annual Celebration Friday

On Friday, 1Week KC–the weeklong celebration of entrepreneurs and small business in Kansas City–will kick off its fifth annual event.

Each day there will be a different highlighted event where businesses owners and entrepreneurs can connect with each other and the local community, as well as hook up with resources to help grow their companies.

These events are aimed to build awareness of and support for small business and entrepreneurship in Kansas City.

Here’s a few of the key 1Week KC events happening over the next week:

  • Startup Crawl – Free: Friday, May 20 from 4 to 10 p.m. Eight shuttles will take attendees around to 10 locations. Get a tour of several up-and-coming companies, and learn about more than 100 local startups. You’ll get the chance to meet the founders and their teams and to network with members of the community.   
  • Sprint Accelerator Demo Day – Free: Tuesday, May 24 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Learn more about the latest class to graduate from the Sprint Accelerator.
  • Small Business Celebration – $45: Wednesday, May 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kansas City Convention Center. Join the CEOs and leaders of the 2016 Top 10 Small Businesses. Five awards will be announced at this event, including the Small Businesses of the Year (the Mr. K Award), the Diverse Owned Business Award, the Legacy of KC Award, the Entrepreneur Award, and the new International award.
  • Start+Scale Business Day – $5: Thursday, May 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. This event is for anyone looking to start and scale a business. Get information on how to access resources, hear from keynote speakers and network with people who might be able to help your business grow.
