Alterra Bank Plans Name Change, More Business Services

Alterra Bank is changing its name, starting June 1, to First Business Bank and expanding its lineup of business services.

Alterra is part of the First Business Bank family of lending institutions, but the only one that currently doesn’t use the name.

The change follows a decision by Alterra’s parent company, First Business Financial Services Inc., to consolidate Alterra’s charter earlier this year with First Business Banks in Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Leawood-based lender will continue to offer services such as SBA loans, commercial lending and treasury management, among others. But it will begin to provide other options for business owners, including equipment financing, factoring, retirement plans, private wealth management and more.

“Our Kansas City employees were the strongest advocates for this change,” said Interim President and CEO David Seiler. “We believe our clients will benefit from First Business’s full suite of financial services – focused on the specific needs of businesses and business owners.”

In addition to the new name, Rob Barker will become the president of the Kansas City region.

Jason Moxness will continue as the region’s senior vice president and director of SBA lending. Paul Baker will be vice president and director of commercial real estate, and Johnna Huke will be vice president and director of client services and treasury management.

“Our company’s Kansas City employee base has grown by 50 percent in the past three years, as a result of the commitment to expand our business in the Kansas City market,” Barker said. “We are most grateful to our clients, the community and our associates for our success. I am enthusiastic about what we can do in the future.”
