Bio-Microbics Receives National Award for Export Contributions

Bio-Microbics of Shawnee has been awarded the highest recognition any U.S. business can receive for its exporting efforts. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker presented the company with the President’s “E Star” Award for Exports.

Bio-Microbics, the only Kansas company to be awarded this honor this year, was one of 21 other national companies to meet the eight-year export growth threshold.

“The ‘E’ Awards Committee was very impressed with Bio-Microbics’ utilization of multiple export markets to support growth and stability for the company,” Pritzker said. “Bio-Microbics’ achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs.”

In 2015, U.S. exports accounted for nearly 13 percent of U.S. gross domestic product, and supported an estimated 11.5 million jobs.

Bio-Microbics, which was featured on the cover of Thinking Bigger Business magazine in August 2012, specializes in wastewater and stormwater treatment and transfer. The company has more than 60,000 installed systems in more than 70 countries. Bio-Microbics also has a line of environmentally friendly maintenance products like cleaners, detergents, descalers and bacteria tablets.

“We are pleased to play an important role in providing environmental technologies and innovative wastewater treatment systems for homes, small communities and marine and commercial properties around the world,” said Bob Rebori, Bio-Microbics’ president.
