Can’t Get Into TEDxKC? There’s Still Hope!

TEDxKC is sold out, but there’s still a way for you to catch this Saturday’s lineup of speakers. The event will be livestreamed at this link, starting at 5:30 p.m.

This is the seventh year for the program, which follows the larger TED organization’s mission of sharing “ideas worth spreading.” The talks tend to be short (less than 18 minutes) but powerful.

This year’s list of presenters includes:

  • Tommy Caldwell, author, adventurer and mountain climber who recently free-climbed El Capitan’s Dawn Wall
  • Scott Hamilton, figure skater, television announcer and cancer activist
  • Barmak Heshmat, MIT Media Lab researcher
  • Zoltan Levay, Hubble Space Telescope lead imager
  • Morgana Bailey, human resources activist
  • Dara Dotz, humanitarian
  • Middleman Burr (Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr), singers, songwriters and life partners
  • Chaz Ebert, CEO and publisher of RogerEbert.com
  • Martin Pistorious, author of the NYT best-seller “Ghost Boy: The Miraculous Escape of a Misdiagnosed Boy Trapped Inside His Own Body”
  • Terri Trespicio, host of the “Solopreneur” podcast
  • Barclay Martin Ensemble, local Kansas City band with a mélange of influences that stay true to the roots of acoustic music
  • The Yawpers, American rock ‘n’ roll band

Not only is the main presentation at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts sold out, so are the overflow viewing parties at the Sprint Accelerator and the University of Kansas’ Edwards campus.
