Several KC entrepreneurs will be recognized at this year’s Kansas Minority and Women Business Awards.
“Minority and women-owned businesses are valuable contributors to the Kansas economy and to the quality of life in our state,” Kansas Commerce Secretary Antonio Soave said.
“These unique businesses, with unique perspectives, also bring culture and tradition to our communities, while helping them build upon the values that make each of these minority cultures great.”
The winners will be saluted during an Oct. 11 luncheon at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka. The local honorees include:
Kansas Women-Owned Businesses
- Professional Service Firm – A.S.K. Associates Inc.
- Service Industry Firm – The Culinary Center of Kansas City
- Supplier/Distributor – International Express Trucking Inc.
Kansas Minority-Owned Businesses
- Retail Firm – Leeway Franks LLC
- Supplier/Distributor – Seal Green-ReUse Concrete Sealing Specialists, LLC
Individual Awards
- Minority Business Advocate – Christal Watson, Heartland Black Chamber
- Women Business Advocate – Jayne Siemens, Venice Communications Inc.
- Corporation of the Year – Black & Veatch
