Meers Advertising Joins Barkley, Forms New Health and Finance Unit

Meers Advertising is being acquired by Barkley, where it’ll become part of Barkley Health & Finance, a new unit.

Sam Meers, Meers’ CEO, will be executive vice president of Barkley Health & Finance, while Allisyn Wheeler, Meers’ president, will serve as senior vice president.

“This is a huge win for our people and our clients,” Meers said. “Our people get to be part of the amazing culture at Barkley, and our clients get the continued focus we’ve been providing for years, but with direct access to the strategic capabilities Barkley has built in creative, innovation, design, social and more.”

The Meers staff will relocate to Barkley’s headquarters at the end of the month.

“The way we’ve orchestrated this is intentional to ensure that our people can make a smooth transition and our clients continue to get the quality and service they expect from us,” Wheeler said. “And the long-term win for our clients is to be able to help them grow by bringing a more diverse skillset and expertise that can help solve their biggest challenges.”

The new direction will play to one of Meers’ core strengths: its deep well of experience in the health and financial services sectors. Its clients have included Lead Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield, American Century Investments and The Whole Person, among others.

“By 2020, health care spending is projected to be nearly 20 percent of our GDP, and there’s an incredible amount of emerging technology in financial services,” said Dan Fromm, Barkley’s president and COO.

“We see amazing growth and opportunities to connect with modern consumers in both of these areas, and this group will help us build the biggest possible future for our company.”

Meers is a past winner of the 25 Under 25® Award from Thinking Bigger Business Media.
