Midwest Women’s Business Enterprise Council Plans Kickoff

A new Kansas City-based organization should make it easier for local companies to become certified as women-owned businesses.

The Midwest Women’s Business Enterprise Council (MWBEC) will be both a sister organization to Central Exchange and an affiliate of the Women’s Business Development Center of Chicago. MWBEC will be able to officially certify companies through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.

A kickoff event is set for 8 to 10 a.m. Oct. 13 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

“We have hit the ground running by being involved and engaged in the community, fostering partnerships with existing organizations and servicing women business enterprises (WBEs) where it is needed,” said Jeanie Brewster, director of MWBEC. “Along with certification, MWBEC will add programs and tools to assist WBEs with their business growth.”
