New Co-Working Space for Corrigan Station

New York-based WeWork, a developer of co-working spaces worldwide, has signed a lease at Corrigan Station. Dubbed WeWork Corrigan Station, the 40,000-square-foot space will occupy the third through the sixth floors of Corrigan Station at 1828 Walnut Street. The planned space will have enough room for a community of more than 750 members.

WeWork designs and develops collaborative co-working spaces with the needs of creators, entrepreneurs, small businesses and Fortune 500 companies in mind.

“WeWork is a platform for creators that provides the space, services and community that help people make a life, not just a living,” said Adam Wacenske, general manager of WeWork’s southern region. “We’re seeing a macro shift in the way people work, one focused on finding meaning. Through WeWork, the people of Kansas City can have the opportunity to work and connect with a global community of more than 90,000 members, both in person at our beautiful workspaces and virtually through our member app.”

Debbee Hancock, director of public affairs for WeWork’s southern region, wrote that the Corrigan Station space offers “access to a global network of like-minded members and services from access health care, payment processing, IT support, payroll, legal, educational programs and other kinds of training—plus office essentials from coffee to cleaning.”

The firm has a network of 90,000 members in more than 120 locations across the globe.

“One of the benefits of WeWork is the global community. When you become a WeWork member in Kansas City, you receive more than just office space,” said Hancock. “In both the physical space and digital space we create through our app, WeWork members can share ideas, advice and services. In fact, 70 percent of our members have collaborated.”

The co-working spaces are suitable for small firms with one person to 20 people or more. WeWork also provides space to large companies, including Fortune 500 companies such as GE, KPMG, Dell and Microsoft.

“Over a third of the global WeWork membership now has more than 15 desks— our fastest growing member segment,” wrote Hancock.

Wacenske added, “In addition, by bringing our space-as-a-service approach to Kansas City, we are offering people of all ages and companies of all sizes the space, culture and flexibility that will help recruit and retain the talent they need for their businesses to flourish.”
