Kansas City is home to some of the country’s best entrepreneurs. And here’s a terrific chance to prove it.
Nominations are now open for the 2016 National Small Business Week Awards, hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The winners—including the national Small Business Person of the Year—will be recognized next May in Washington, D.C.
This year’s winners came from the Kansas City region: Alan Doan and Sarah Galbraith, the brother-and-sister team who founded the Missouri Star Quilt Co. in Hamilton, Mo.
As part of the awards program, each state and territory will name a Small Business Person of the Year. The awards also celebrate entrepreneurs who have excelled in exporting, overcome disasters, succeeded in contracting and otherwise distinguished themselves. A full list of award categories is available at this website.
The nomination deadline for the 2016 awards is 2 p.m. Jan. 11, and you can nominate someone by visiting awards.sba.gov or by sending an application to …
