Federal agency accepting nominations for National Minority Business Awards

The Minority Business Development Agency is now accepting nominations for the National Minority Business Awards, the highest commendations the U.S. Department of Commerce gives to a minority-owned company in the United States.

The NMBA winners will be honored as part of the National Minority Enterprise Development Week, set this year for Oct. 14-20 in Austin, Texas.

According to the MBDA, the National Minority Business Awards “celebrate the achievement of minority entrepreneurs, as well as the individuals and organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to advancing minority business enterprises.”

Winners are awarded in the following categories:

MINORITY-OWNED FIRMS

  • Minority Construction Firm of the Year
  • Minority Manufacturing Firm of the Year
  • Minority Health Products And Services Firm of the Year
  • Minority Innovative Technology Firm of the Year
  • Minority Marketing and Communication Firm of the Year
  • Minority Professional Services Firm of the Year
  • Minority Veteran-owned Firm of the Year
  • MBDA Minority Business Enterprise of the Year

CHAMPIONS OF MINORITY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Access to Capital Award
  • Advocate of the Year Award
  • Distinguished Supplier Diversity Award

INDIVIDUAL RECOGNITION

  • Abe Venable Legacy Award for Lifetime Achievement
  • Ronald H. Brown Leadership Award

 

The deadline for nominations is July 31. The awards will be announced in September and honored at a ceremony in October.
