Pinsight, Digital Sandbox KC Announce Partnership to Help Startups

Pinsight Media is teaming up with Digital Sandbox KC to provide local startups help with proof-of-concept funding and app development.

Digital Sandbox provides up to $25,000 in project funding for young companies that are working to turn their concept into a commercial product.

Now, thanks to the new partnership, Sandbox will refer companies that need additional product funding to Pinsight’s Rollout program. Through Rollout, Pinsight will build out the app in exchange for the ability to sell advertising through it.

“As a locally grown technology company based here in Kansas City, we want to help others grow and continue to expand our technology footprint nationally,” said Kevin McGinnis, vice president of Pinsight Media, an affiliate of Sprint. “We see a great opportunity with Digital Sandbox and look forward to helping speed up the launch process for its companies.”

Pinsight reaps all advertising revenue until the app’s cost of development is covered. Then the startup and Pinsight share revenue. The program is primarily for startups developing consumer-facing apps. (More details are available at the Rollout site.)

“With Pinsight’s involvement and generous support, entrepreneurs now have access to industry experts with extensive knowledge in app development and app marketing,” said Jeff Shackelford, the executive director of Digital Sandbox. “As a result, we hope that even more consumer-focused founders will apply to tap into the entrepreneurial resources available in our own backyard.”

Digital Sandbox is taking applications for its program on a rolling basis. You can learn about its work here.
