ScaleUP! Kansas City Seeks Second Group of Businesses

ScaleUP! Kansas City—a new program that helps small businesses break through to larger revenues—is looking for its second group of companies. The application deadline is April 19.

The free program is an initiative of the UMKC Innovation Center and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Business owners are exposed to training, mentoring and expert feedback on growing their companies.

Applicants need to run a business that’s been operational for two years or more. The company should already make between $150,000 and $750,000 in yearly sales, and it has to be in a market that could potentially support annual sales north of $1 million.

ScaleUP! Kansas City will let applicants know by 5 p.m. May 18 if they’ve been accepted into the second cohort. Want to learn more about the program? Contact Jill Meyer at meyerjz@umkc.edu.

Kansas City was one of only eight communities selected by the SBA to host the first round of ScaleUP! programs. The initiative targets established companies, as opposed to newer businesses.

It’s been just a few months since ScaleUP! Kansas City picked its first group of companies, and Thinking Bigger Business has been profiling some of the participating entrepreneurs, such as El Padrino Soccer and Proximity Wireless.
