Scholarships Available for KC Construction Business Course

The Urban Business Growth Initiative—a program that helps train and coach entrepreneurs in the urban core—is offering scholarships for an upcoming class on the construction business.

Normally, Construction Business Management—an eight-week course kicking off Jan. 21—costs $795, but qualified contractors and business owners can apply for a scholarship that lowers the price to $75.

Students will cover a wide range of topics, including strategic planning, finances, marketing and more, all with the goal of helping them grow their construction businesses. For more information, visit this website.

The Urban Business Growth Initiative is a joint project of KC BizCare, the city’s resource center for business owners; KCSourceLink; the University of Missouri-Kansas City Small Business and Technology Development Center; and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center.

The UBGI offers training and counseling that’s tailored to existing and aspiring entrepreneurs, so they can in turn create jobs in the city’s distressed neighborhoods. So far, the UBGI has helped entrepreneurs create 130 jobs and generate more than $14 million in sales.
