ShotTracker, Golden State Warriors’ Thompson Team Up for Shooting Challenge

Kansas City startup ShotTracker is kicking off the Klay Thompson Preseason 3,000, a free training program with the Golden State Warriors shooting guard.

Players will be challenged to make 3,000 shots in the three weeks starting on Nov. 1 and ending Nov. 22, as a way to get ready for the basketball season. Those who do so with a ShotTracker device can win a free T-shirt.

The Preseason 3,000 will start with a livestreamed event featuring Thompson at 5 p.m. Nov. 1. There’ll be follow-up sessions featuring top trainer Charlie Torres and shooting coach Collin Castellaw on Nov. 8 and Nov. 15, respectively. ShotTracker also plans to roll out a series of new shooting drills.

The ShotTracker system was created by local entrepreneurs Davyeon Ross and Bruce Ianni. It consists of a wearable wrist sensor, which works in connection with a sensor attached to a basketball net and a smartphone to track players’ shot attempts and completions.

“The Klay Thompson Preseason 3,000 uses ShotTracker’s advanced technology to bring a professional basketball experience to players everywhere,” said Ross, ShotTracker’s COO. “It’s a chance to work with the very best to improve your shot, and also see how you stack up against others going into the season.”
