Small Business Bootcamp offered for aspiring entrepreneurs

Mid-Continent Public Library and Clay County Economic Development Council are partnering to offer a Small Business Bootcamp on Friday, March 30, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. The seminar will take place at Woodneath Library Center.

The event, funded by a grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, will include a variety of seminars hosted by local experts versed in small business, such as KC BizCare and SCORE KC.

Seminars will cover start-up financial costs, benefits of a mentor, working with government, direct sales, technology and best practices for home businesses.

“These workshops are not only a great opportunity to take home free insights from some of the brightest business minds in our city — they also provide an ideal platform to network with other business owners and make connections that could lead to mutually beneficial partnerships,” said Amy Fisher, who leads MCPL’s Square One Small Business Services division.

The half-day bootcamp will kick off with a keynote presentation by Kelly Wilson, owner of Weave Gotcha Covered!, a custom window treatments and home furnishings business in Kansas City.

Registration is required. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. with complimentary snacks and coffee. MCPL’s Woodneath Library Center is at 8900 NE Flintlock Road, Kansas City, MO 64157.
