SwimZip Founder to Appear on ‘Shark Tank’

Another KC-based company is taking a dip in the Shark Tank.

Betsy Johnson of SwimZip, the clothing brand that helps protect kids from the sun, will be featured on this week’s episode of “Shark Tank.” The show will air at 8 p.m. Jan. 24 on ABC-TV.

Johnson and Youth Entrepreneurs plan to hold a local watch party from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Mission Hills Country Club, and it’ll be free and open to the public. Johnson was part of Youth Entrepreneurs when she attended Topeka High School. She says that experience gave her the skills necessary to develop a solid business plan and write sales pitches that connected with customers.

SwimZip produces a line of swimwear that has built-in sun protection rated at UPF 50+. The company has previously been featured as a Company to Watch in Thinking Bigger Business magazine.
