Local startup ClaimKit has raised $1.8 million for its second product, RiskGenius, which helps clients quickly analyze insurance policies.
Flyover Capital—a Leawood-based V.C. firm that specializes in early-stage tech companies from the Midwest—led the round. The Mid-America Angels and other angel investors also took part.
“We’re excited to partner with Flyover Capital to grow our company,” said Chris Cheatham, ClaimKit CEO. “The Flyover team brings a wealth of knowledge to the table and the entrepreneurial mindset that fits well with our team. It is heartening to have an institutional investor based in our region with the operating backgrounds and experience of the Flyover partners.”
ClaimKit specializes in software for the insurance industry. Its first product, Privity, helps clients manage all the documents related to insurance claims.
Cheatham and his team developed RiskGenius after a client asked if there was a way to adapt Privity so it could analyze commercial insurance policies.
“Currently, policy analysis for the insurance industry is an important but very time-consuming task. I have too many friends in the insurance industry that spend nights and weekends reviewing policies,” said Cheatham. “We’re delighted to provide nearly instant policy analysis for insurance professionals to give them that time back.”
