Every year, Thinking Bigger Business Media is proud to celebrate some of the hardest-working, most inspiring entrepreneurs in the entire Kansas City region. They’re saluted at the company’s annual awards program, the 25 Under 25® Awards.
The awards, which are marking their 15th year of existence, are presented to 25 local businesses with fewer than 25 employees. An independent panel of judges consisting of area business leaders chooses the winning companies. Nearly 1,500 nominations were submitted. This year’s honorees include:
- AlphaGraphics Kansas City

Each year, Thinking Bigger Business also salutes one of the city’s most enduring business leaders, someone who has made a lasting impact on the entrepreneurial community, through its Entrepreneurial Legacy Award. This year’s honoree will be John McDonald, the founder of Boulevard Brewing Co.
A series of events and media opportunities featuring the winning companies culminates in a black-tie dinner and gala on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at the downtown Marriott Muehlebach. This year’s theme is “The Story of Small Business.” Tickets will go on sale Jan. 1 at www.25under25.com.
Not only is 2016 the 15th anniversary of 25 Under 25®, it also is the 25th anniversary of Thinking Bigger Business Media, a local media company devoted to telling the stories of local entrepreneurs. The company was previously known as KC Small Business Monthly.
To be considered for 25 Under 25®, companies must meet three requirements:
- Have fewer than 25 full-time (or full-time equivalent) employees
- Operate a for-profit business for three or more years
- Be located in the Greater Kansas City area
Companies are judged on their financial stability, ability to overcome adversity and challenges, community involvement, distinguishing or defining characteristics and company vision.
