If you’re an up-and-coming animal health company, you have until April 17 to apply to be a presenter at this fall’s KC Animal Health Investment Forum.
The annual meeting, set for Sept. 1, introduces early- and mid-stage companies to a wide range of investors. The event will be held in the Kansas City Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom.
In the past six years, presenting companies have raised more than $150 million in investment. Several others have won licensing and distribution deals as a result of their presentations. The forum attracts a mix of venture capital firms, corporate R&D specialists and others with an interest in the sector.
Applicants should be seeking $500,000 to $20 million in funding, with plans to generate at least $20 million in revenue in the next five to seven years.
The forum is presented each year by the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor, an initiative of the Kansas City Area Development Council. Though “Kansas City” is in the corridor’s official name, it encompasses animal health and nutrition companies as far afield as Manhattan, Kan., and Columbia, Mo.
“We’re thrilled that the forum has provided a unique opportunity for venture capital and investment firms to hear from emerging animal health companies with the newest technologies,” said Kimberly Young, president of the KC Animal Health Corridor. “Companies with a strategic location in the KC Animal Health Corridor now represent 56 percent of total worldwide animal health, diagnostics and pet food sales.”
