Political consulting firm Axiom Strategies recently won two Reed Awards, a top industry honor, for its work on a radio ad and a piece of direct mail.
The first Reed Award saluted Axiom’s use of voiceover in a radio ad—specifically, a clip of Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood character from the Netflix TV show “House of Cards.” The ad helped U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts in his most recent race. Axiom shared the award with Bob Honold, a media strategist.
Axiom’s Reed Award for Best Mail Piece for a Ballot Initiative was for “Tale of Tax Hikes,” which helped defeat Proposition 2 in Columbia, Mo. The measure would have instituted a new tax on development and construction there, and more than 55 percent of voters rejected the proposition.
The Reed Awards take their name from Stanley Foster Reed, the founder of Campaigns & Elections magazine. This year’s awards were presented during a ceremony last month in Las Vegas.
“We strive for the most creative content that will move votes,” said Jeff Roe, Axiom Strategies’ CEO. “It’s truly an honor to see some of our work again recognized for excellence by our peers.”
Axiom has offices in Kansas City, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
