Boot Camp Will Share the Basics of the Food-Truck Business

You can learn the basics of starting your own food truck by attending a free one-day boot camp on Nov. 7 at the Mid-Continent Public Library’s Woodneath Library Center.

The library’s Square One Small Business Services is teaming up with the KC Food Truck Association and the Ennovation Center to offer the six-hour program. Brandon Simpson, the owner of Jazzy B’s Bar-B-Que, will lead the boot camp, which will include a series of local experts, such as Xander Winkel of the Ennovation Center, and a panel of first-year food-truck operators.

“In startup culture, tech entrepreneurs get to have all the attention,” said Morgan Perry, business specialist at Mid-Continent Public Library. “What about the horrendous failure rate around food businesses? The need for food business education is huge, and Square One is paying attention.”

The boot camp will start at 10 a.m. at 8900 Flintlock Road in Kansas City, Mo. You can sign up here.

“Food Trucks are just the beginning,” Perry said. “Our partnership with the Ennovation Center and practitioners like Jazzy B is a customer-centric approach to education. We respect the student by asking them about their needs, not assuming we know what they need. ”
