Brookside Barkery & Bath recently added delivery services to ensure that even those with busy schedules have satisfied pets.
The all-natural pet food store and grooming/bathing facility now offers product delivery within a 10-mile radius with a minimum spending requirement of $50.
Brookside Barkery, a Thinking Bigger 25 Under 25 Award winner in 2007, hopes that providing a delivery service will help it better compete with larger pet businesses, said marketing coordinator Courtney Klitzke.
“As a small, brick-and-mortar business, our concerns of competing with retail giants have been on the horizon for quite some time. Brookside Barkery’s advantage has always existed in the value of the pet products we carry and our incredibly knowledgeable staff,” Klitzke said.
“Pet owners come to the Barkery looking for answers and trust our advice, which cannot be replicated by online retailers,” she continued. “Unfortunately, there’s nothing stopping those pet owners from taking our advice, choosing the right products for their pets and then simply putting those items on an automatic delivery schedule through one of many online stores.”
However, Brookside Barkery has high hopes that its one-day free delivery and fast service will bring in new business.
“By launching an online store with delivery options, a discounted subscription service and free local delivery — and by upholding our frequent buyer loyalty program — we’re making it possible for our customers to receive the same conveniences and perks as they would from ordering through large, national retail players,” Klitzke said.
Their services are boosting the Barkery’s business and its passion.
“We believe pet owners shouldn’t have to choose between quality and convenience,” Klitzke said.“Instead, we’ve created a positive, accessible, multi-channel shopping experience for our customers so that whether they’re in-store or shopping from home, the clear choice when shopping for their pets’ favorites is the Barkery.”
Brookside Barkery has two brick-and-mortar locations: 118 W. 63rd St. in Kansas City, Mo., and 817 NE Woods Chapel Road in Lee’s Summit.
