Center for Advanced Professional Studies ‘CAPS’ off expansion with a documentary

Throughout the next month, select theaters will screen “Where Students Lead,” a documentary focused on the Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS), which started in the Blue Valley school district in Overland Park and has since spread to districts nationwide.

The program was designed as a way for high school students to immerse themselves into the professional world and face real-life experiences while still in school. CAPS provides students the opportunity to form an entrepreneurial mindset, responsiveness and professional skill development.

CAPS programs partner with local businesses to help provide real-life work experience for high school students. “Where Students Lead” highlights the dramatic impact the CAPS program has had on students’ education and future.

Overflow, a Lenexa company, worked with CAPS students to produce the documentary. The first showing at AMC Town Center in Leawood is sold out, but a second showing there will take place April 17. Tickets are available online. Other showings will take place in Arkansas, St. Louis, Arizona, Salt Lake City and Minneapolis.
