Chef Renee Kelly, the owner of Renee Kelly’s Harvest, is going to be a competitor on the upcoming 13th season of “Top Chef” on cable channel Bravo.
The latest edition of the cooking competition will kick off with a two-night event at 9 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3, with future episodes debuting at 9 p.m. on Thursdays. At stake is $125,000 in prize money, a feature in Food & Wine magazine and other prizes. Kelly is one of 17 “cheftestants” and the only one from the Midwest. (You can check out her biography on the “Top Chef” site here.)
Over the course of the season, the “Top Chef” contestants will face a series of cooking challenges in six California cities, cooking for food writers, legendary chefs and, believe it or not, MC Hammer.
Kelly has operated Renee Kelly’s Harvest since 2012 in Shawnee. The restaurant emphasizes a farm-to-table approach, with all of its ingredients raised or grown within 90 minutes of Kansas City.
