The Waldo-based City Gym is opening a second location this spring in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
It’ll be located in the new East 9 at Pickwick Plaza apartment building, 933 McGee. Phase One of the building is expected to open next month, with the entire development completed by spring.
“We searched downtown for the right opportunity over the last two or three years, and the Pickwick Plaza project hit on all cylinders,” said Gib Kerr of Cushman & Wakefield, which represented City Gym in its search for a second location.
“It’s a beautiful development in a dynamic neighborhood with growing residential and office populations nearby. And it’s just a couple blocks from the new streetcar line. I have no doubt that City Gym will soon be a key element of the community at that location.”
Katie Roder, a manager of the original City Gym, will become the general manager of the downtown location. That facility will include a 6,000-square-foot open gym, a spin studio and a group exercise studio. The apartment building’s tenants will be allowed to use the gym.
City Gym has built a clientele of more than 1,400 members and won a series of awards, including the 25 Under 25® from Thinking Bigger Business Media.
