Clair De Lune Collects Gently Used Bras for Hope House

Clair de lune lingerie boutique in Overland Park is now holding its 11th annual Great Bra Exchange.

Through Jan. 25, clair de lune is asking customers to bring in their gently used bras for donation to Hope House, which helps women affected by domestic abuse. For each bra traded in, clair de lune customers will receive $15 off the purchase of a new bra.

“Our customers and staff look forward to the Great Bra Exchange,” said clair de lune owner Terry Levine in a release. “It’s a snowball effect, really. One customer donating a few used bras may not seem like a lot. But when hundreds of our customers participate, that’s a different story. Thanks to our customers’ generosity, we anticipate delivering another 2,500 to 3,000 bras to Hope House this year.”

Since 2005, the Great Bra Exchange has given clair de lune customers the opportunity to donate more than 17,500 bras to Hope House, which has two secure locations in Independence and Lee’s Summit. Hope House helps to prevent domestic violence, while providing education and support for its residents.

“We see women coming to Hope House with nothing more than the clothing they are wearing,” said Hope House CEO MaryAnne Metheny. “Who could imagine how important something like a bra becomes? We are extremely grateful to clair de lune and their customers for their efforts over the years.”

In 2013, clair de lune opened a second store in the St. Louis area, where bras collected during the Great Bra Exchange are donated to the Women’s Safe House.
