Colony KC Adds Rock and Roll with The RINO

Colony KC in Northtowne plans to shake, rattle and roll very soon. It is opening The RINO, a music venue and event space featuring rock and rock-related bands, in July.

The company wants to attract local and touring bands and songwriters on a nightly basis. Besides rock, the venue also may include some jazz and hip-hop nights, said co-owner Zach Henderson. The RINO will feature state-of-the art sound.

“We have bands booked already, local acts like “Run With It and MESS,” Henderson said. “We plan on providing the River North with a stellar live music venue and awesome space for private events.”

The space is also available for rent for corporate events, parties, weddings and other events. The company also announced a brewery expansion and a full kitchen to be built later this year.

Colony KC is a family-owned bar that focuses on the craft beverage movement. It serves beer, cocktails, espresso and coffee as well as fresh baked goods from The Kansas City Baking Company. Its product line includes 12 rotating craft taps and more than 80 rotating craft bottled and canned beers. It also features craft espresso and coffee from Blip Roasters in Kansas City’s West Bottoms and Parlor Roasters in Brooklyn, N.Y. With its brewery expansion, the bar will soon be serving beer as Colony Handcrafted Ales.
