Olathe’s Communications Integrity Group has just won a $10,000 cash prize from Comcast Business—and is now in the running for another $20,000.

The award is part of Comcast Business’s Innovation 4 Entrepreneurs national essay competition for small business owners. Entrants were asked to write about how they would use the prize money to improve their company’s technology.

Communications Integrity Group said it will build up its voice and data networks’ hardware and software. The company builds and maintains comprehensive communication systems for businesses, including telephone service, Internet access, fax, file sharing, voice mail and more.

“We are so excited and honored to have been selected to be a regional winner of the I4E contest and by our peers and industry gurus, who know just how hard it is to run a business today,” said Gary Horn, CEO and digital architect for Communications Integrity Group. “As a growing business, this prize is such a huge help.”

The company announced two first-round, $10,000 winners from each of its 16 regions. One winner has been in business less than two years. The other will have been operational two years or more.

During the week of June 1, Comcast Business will announce the names of the six businesses selected to be grand prize winners. They’ll each be awarded $20,000 and will travel to the company’s headquarters in Philadelphia in August for business coaching and consulting.
