Chris Rosburg, the owner of Kansas City’s CR Promotions, has just been named Big Brother of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
Rosburg was recognized during a ceremony Wednesday at the Big Brothers Big Sisters National Conference in Philadelphia. He has volunteered as a mentor for five years. His “Little,” Darrion, and Darrion’s mother also took part in the celebration.
“When I signed up to be a ‘Big’ five years ago, my hope was to positively affect a child’s life,” Rosburg said. “It’s humbling to be recognized at the state and national level for mentoring such an awesome ‘Little’ like Darrion. There are 200,000 people just like me—all giving their time and working to make a difference in children’s lives across the country as ‘Bigs.’”
In honor of his award, Rosburg said that he’ll donate 5 percent of his company’s sales in June to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City. CR Promotions specializes in branded promotional items.
In addition to mentoring Darrion, Rosburg serves as president of BBBS’ Big Impact Group, helping to raise money for the nonprofit and recruit other volunteers.
“Chris is so deserving of the Big Brother of the Year honor,” said Kristi Hutchison, chief marketing officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City. “His relationship with Darrion has been truly life-changing for Darrion and Darrion’s entire family. Chris is one of our most loyal advocates.”
