Digital Sandbox KC has approved proof-of-concept support to three more early-stage companies: Flokk, Routine Success and Tapyness.
Flokk is an app that lets users find live events near them and even win rewards. Flokk’s service also allows event organizers to gather analytics about their events and offer proximity-based promotions.
Routine Success is a service for parents of kids with autism spectrum disorders or ADHD. By using the startup’s service, parents can create daily routines or schedules for their children. Kids receive prompts throughout the day through a smart watch.
“This funding from Digital Sandbox KC will provide Routine Success the means to take our phase 1 prototype to a launch-ready commercial product,” founder Matt Gunter said.
“Based upon the great feedback we have received from the families here in KC who participated in our beta trial, I’m certain that our product will help a lot of kids with conditions like ADHD and autism stay more focused, more productive and happier throughout the school day.”
Tapyness lets businesses solicit real-time feedback from customers. The startup has created a quick survey that customers can take as they’re walking out of a store’s exit. Digital Sandbox KC will help Tapyness pay for some development costs and fine-tuning.
Since 2013, Digital Sandbox has provided proof-of-concept funding for 73 startups in Kansas City, supporting the creation of 247 jobs and $22.7 million in follow-on funding. It’s open to companies in Kansas City, Mo., and Olathe.
Applications are taken on a rolling basis, with approvals made every eight weeks or so. The program can help startups with expenses for legal work, equipment, consultants and other beta-testing, prototyping or market validation needs.
