Doughnut Lounge just marked two years in business, and the Westport-based eatery shows no signs of slowing down. It’s getting ready to open a second location in North Kansas City and dive into the wholesale market. Plus, it’s debuting its own Doughnut Lounge food truck.
Starting Nov. 20, the food truck will be in operation outside 1250 Burlington St., the soon-to-open second location.
The truck will serve customers from 7 a.m. to noon Mondays through Fridays until the new location is open sometime early next year. The truck also will be available for events in the evenings and on weekends.
Doughnut Lounge’s North Kansas City presence will include a much larger kitchen, shared with Kansas City Baking Co., which will allow the business to increase production, expand into wholesale and do more business in the wedding and event markets.
Bummed that Doughnut Lounge isn’t moving into your neighborhood? Don’t give up hope. Jake Randall, the company’s owner, said that he wants to open multiple Doughnut Lounge outposts across the metro area in the coming year. And you can still stop at the original location at 4117 Pennsylvania.
