Major acclaim keeps coming for tech firm EyeVerify, which last week won the Angel Capital Association’s 2014 Luis Villalobos Award for being the most ingenious and innovative idea recently financed by angel groups that are ACA members.
The Kansas City, Kan., company lets users of smart devices eschew passwords in favor of its exclusive Eyeprint Verification system, which matches the pattern of blood vessels in the eye.
In January, the company picked up an award at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and last November won the international “Get in the Ring” startup pitch competition in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, beating out more than 1,000 companies.
“Any time you are honored and recognized for a lot of the hard day-to-day work, it’s a great feeling and recognition for the team and the progress made,” EyeVerify CEO Toby Rush said in a release.
“As the world moves more digital, we have to have a way to provide a confidence that the people we interact with are who they say they are. If we don’t have that trust, the digital world itself is limited. I could give you my password right now and you could log in, but you’re not me. Biometrics are the only thing that guarantees you are me.”
