‘From Doughboys to Entrepreneurs’ Comes to WWI Museum on Feb. 1

The Kansas City Startup Village will host a special program on the city’s recent entrepreneurial successes from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 1 at the National World War I Museum.

“From Doughboys to Entrepreneurs: The Foundation of Each Century is Laid by Its Youth” is free and open to the public, but attendees must register before Jan. 29 by visiting this website.

Joe Reardon, an attorney with McAnany Van Cleave & Phillips, will talk about his time as the mayor and CEO of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kan., and his work to bring Google Fiber to the city.

Christian Fisher, CEO and founder of startup Briefcase, will speak as well.

And there will be a showcase of teams from the Most Entrepreneurial City in America (MECA) Challenge. Held in September, the Challenge was a competition for groups of high school and college students, led by local entrepreneurs.

“On Feb. 1, we’ll showcase how each team wowed us with their determination, collaboration and creative solutions,” said Adam Arredondo of Hoopla.io and the MECA Challenge planner. “The program will feature student presentations and the premiere of the MECA Challenge highlight film.”
