Google Fiber will officially offer Internet service for small businesses, and neighborhoods near downtown Kansas City, Kan., and the Waldo area in Kansas City, Mo., will be the first in line.
Google announced its Early Access Program on the official Fiber blog.
Fiber for small business has been one of the most requested services, but until now, Fiber was available for residential customers only, though there were a few exceptions. Several startups, for example, took up residence in homes near Westport and State Line roads so they could get access to the ultra-fast connection. And Google offered Fiber to a handful of small businesses near its local headquarters.
The service will cost $100 per month. Google plans to waive its construction fee and will offer static Ips for an additional cost. It’s not clear how soon small businesses in Waldo and KCK could get access to the services.
Google also operated a pilot project earlier this year to test a potential service for small business.
“We heard from documentary filmmakers, flower shops, web development agencies, and more,” field team manager Carlos Casas wrote on the Fiber blog. “All of these small businesses have a lot of ideas on how a faster Internet connection could speed up their entire business — we can’t wait to see what they do with Google Fiber.”
