Kansas State University is taking applications now through 5 p.m. April 11 for the next round of its Launch A Business program.
This is the third year for the free incubator program, which takes up to 20 young Kansas-based companies and exposes them to K-State training, research and connections. The program, which is sponsored by KS State Bank, will run from May 26 to June 23.
“The LAB program allows us to share our expertise with the community,” said Chad Jackson, director of the university’s Center for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship in the College of Business Administration. “Our faculty, alumni and students are incredible resources, and we are excited to ask them to volunteer to support the next great startup ventures. We are grateful to KS State Bank for making this possible.”
What kinds of companies is K-State looking for? Launch A Business applicants need to be for-profit, and their business model should be scalable and solve a real problem by offering an innovative solution. Applicants don’t pay or give up any equity to participate, but they must not have raised any outside funding prior to joining Launch A Business.
Organizers are especially interested in companies from the global food sector. Up to 10 of those businesses will be eligible for this year’s Launch A Business class.
