The Kansas City Kansas Area Chamber of Commerce appointed Randy Nyp as chair of its 2017 board of directors. Nyp is the chief executive officer of Providence Medical Center, Saint John Hospital and St. Joseph Medical Center.
Valerie Mussett, the general manager of Design Mechanical, is the outgoing chair.
Nyp recognizes that the current business expansion in Wyandotte County is directly tied to partnerships that were developed over the years. “We will continue to encourage new partnerships focused on expanding that growth throughout the community,” he said.
Nyp joined Providence and Saint John in 2011 and assumed his leadership position with St. Joseph in 2016. Prior to joining the hospitals, Nyp spent six years as senior vice president and chief operating officer at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, in Spartanburg, S.C.
Nyp brings more than 30 years of experience to the new role. As a healthcare industry executive he has overseen mergers, helped develop integrated health care systems and motivated health care professionals to improve patient care while enhancing financial performance. He has implemented strategic plans that achieved growth objectives while improving organizational productivity and deepening community relationships.
He has also been active with several community organizations, including Wyandotte Health Council, Rotary, the Kansas City Metropolitan Health Council and the Kansas City Kansas Area Chamber of Commerce.
