Kansas City Tops List of Fast-Growing Startup Hubs

Mattermark, a business-information service specializing in startups, did a little digging into research to find out which U.S. cities could be dubbed the best hubs for investment activity and startups. Kansas City beat out dozens of other top metro areas for the No. 1 spot, based on the increase in investment activity between 2014 and 2015.

Mattermark’s goal was to find the best cities outside of Silicon Valley to start or invest in startups. The company studied deal information from over 6,700 angel, seed, Series A and Series B investments made in over 4,900 companies based in 16 different U.S. cities between Jan. 1, 2012, and Dec. 31, 2015.

Kansas City saw a 200 percent growth increase in 2015.

Mattermark also noted Kansas City as having one of the best food scenes in country (shout out to our BBQ roots), as well as our extreme affordability when it comes to living expenses and our growing culture.
