Kansas Looks for Its Next Exporter of the Year

The Kansas Department of Commerce is accepting nominations now through Jan. 30 for the 2015 Governor’s Exporter of the Year Award.

The award will go to a Kansas business that has excelled in international trade and marketing practices. The 27th annual winner will be announced in June, which is Business Appreciation Month.

Key areas of assessment for nominated companies will include:

  • Number and/or percentage increase in jobs because of international activities
  • Innovations in marketing globally
  • Number of countries to which exports are made
  • Successful use of international distributors
  • Long-term international strategies and growth prospects
  • Network of distributors, agent/representatives, international offices or subsidiaries
  • Foreign language promotional materials as well as general promotional activities
  • Establishment of joint ventures
  • Participation in trade shows and/or international expositions
  • Dedication to the state of Kansas and the local community

Nominations can be made by organizations or individuals. Self-nominations by businesses are also permitted.

Governor’s Exporter of the Year Award winners in recent years have included Global Aviation of Independence (2014), Excel Industries Inc. (2013), PITSCO Inc. (2012), Bio-Microbics Inc. (2011) and Osborne Industries (2010).
