The state of Kansas has launched a website to help Kansas businesses better capitalize on the reshoring movement, which seeks to bring jobs lost overseas back to America.
TheKansasEdge.com highlights the appeal of small and medium-sized supply chain companies in the state, and includes a database of Kansas suppliers that manufacturing companies in Kansas and elsewhere can use to make sourcing decisions.
“The Kansas Edge is a comprehensive, unique initiative that leverages our strong manufacturing base, pro-growth business environment and inherent advantages,” said Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback in a release. “The initiative will promote the advantages in cost, quality, efficiency and convenience that can be found only in Kansas.”
In addition, Brownback signed a proclamation declaring Oct. 3 as Manufacturing Day in recognition of the central role that manufacturing plays in the Kansas economy.
“Businesses that have moved work overseas usually don’t consider the total cost of offshoring,” added Harry Moser, founder of the Reshoring Initiative. “Many are now realizing that when all costs, risks and strategic impact are considered, there are significant advantages to bringing those jobs back to the U.S.”
